“When we search for "ourselves" in the eyes of others, we have imprisoned our own-selves in believing that our self-worth is nothing unless others validate who we are. Unless we approve of whom we are, what we are, and what we are capable of doing as an individual, only then we will have released "ourselves" from our own imprisonment. We are in charge of our own life's destiny and what we do and become can only be validated by our accomplishments and failures; not by what others may think of us.”
― (Dahveed) D. A. Isley, Through The Eyes of A Foster Child: A Poetic Journey
John 3:16 For God so Loved the world that he gave his only son,
that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
A LETTER FROM ME TO YOU:
Hey ya'll! It's Capri and I just wanted to write you a personal note of encouragement because I, too, grew up in foster care from ages 7-13 and then went back in at 17. If your life is anything like mine was it's no where near what you want it to be but I need you to listen to me carefully: DO NOT GIVE UP!! Promise me that! NEVER give up and Never do anything to hurt yourself. Okay! Make that promise to yourself right now. Listen to me carefully, there ARE people who care for you and who are doing their best to make sure you are protected and cared for, I am one of them. You can contact me any time by emailing capri.cruz@yahoo.com. I don't care what it's about. If you want to talk, email me. If you're suffering or having problems, share it with me so I can help guide you. I'm only one person and I'm no genie but I am one person who has made it through life after foster care, and to the best of my ability, I will help you get through too,. What you're going through right now is not your fault. IT'S NOT! You're just a kid doing the best you can in a situation you probably don't want to be in (to say the least). And you're probably trying to figure it all out. Yes, sometimes it's a lonely journey but it doesn't have to be. I need you to know that...it doesn't have to be a lonely journey because not only am I am here for you, but more importantly, God is here for you!! You need to know that you are a child of God and then you have to figure out what that means for you, just as I had to. So get a bible or go to biblegateway.com and start reading the book of Psalms or Proverbs. I also need you to watch every video I put on the Goodies page and read everything on this page, along with the free Ebook I provided under the All Products page (it's a short read) because these are the SEEDS that must get planted in your thoughts so your emotions can truly change in a positive, healthy manner. As a bonus, I have some more really GREAT news. You ready? Hold on....here it goes.....No matter what the world gives us to deal with: IT'S ONLY TEMPORARY. Today only lasts 24 hours, a week is ALWAYS 7 days, and you WILL reach the age of 18 when you can then be completely in charge of your life and choices!! But the best news is this...You have COMPLETE control over your mindset RIGHT NOW!!
To make your journey less painful, you must know the trick. The trick is that our thoughts create the meaning of the experiences we go through and that's where our pain or peace evolve. For example, there are people in this world who have tragically lost their limbs, maybe an arm or leg, but you know what, they DECIDED that they weren't gonna let that tragedy control or destroy their life. They decided to use their suffering for a greater cause in life in order to create purpose and meaning for their lives. If this moment in time is tough on you, do not focus on it compulsively. Talk with your social worker and ask to get signed up for counseling so you can have someone safe to talk with about your pain, Don't let it control you. You must control your pain and your mind in a healthy manner. This moment in life is temporary and so is the pain. I promise you that! But you have to know how to make that real for you. So start with the bible to find your strength and identity. For me, my personal relationship with Jesus is what saved my life because so long as I focused on my family, my problems, or my pain, I stayed lost and in pain; I hated my life; I hated everything. But when I learned I was a child of God and what that meant for me, things began to change in my life because I began to change; not my family, not other people or things, but ME (meaning my mind). That's how we gain power over our future (through our thoughts, then actions).
So for now, try this exercise. Get a sheet of paper. Write down what you want your life to look and feel like when you're 18 years old or whatever age you want to pick. How do you want to feel? Where do you want to live? What kind of life do you want to create? (You know you have that POWER right? YOU CREATE YOUR FUTURE!! Do you want to have a high school diploma? What about a car? What color? Do you want to go to college? What will you major in? What are you good at? Do you want to be working as a bank teller or selling laptops at the Apple store in the mall? Maybe you want to be an actor or a singer. Do you want to join the military or become an entrepreneur? Start thinking about what you want your future to look like and start making a PLAN OF ACTION to make it come true because truly, I promise you this: Today's pain doesn't have to affect you forever. Life can and will get better if you take control of what you have control over, which is your mind and your personal choices. REMEMBER THIS: Where the mind goes, energy flows (meaning what you focus on you create more of). So please, read the material on this website, do that exercise, ask your DFCS case worker to get you a copy of my book and get signed up for counseling services, and contact me when you need to talk. Until we speak again, remember, God is your heavenly father. Talk to him. Seek his guidance DAILY.
All the BEST to you and your future!!
Remember: YOU DECIDE!
YOU HAVE THAT POWER!! So make smart and healthy choices. Xoxoxo

Detach for Thought
“Every point of consciousness needs to be given the freedom to go its own way to accomplish its own thing. As above, so below. As within, so without. Just like you need to be given the freedom to be able to grow, to thrive and to succeed, your thought-forms (aka thoughts) also need to be given the freedom to go forth and accomplish what they were created for. Love gives freedom and space for love to flourish. Everything needs space to develop. This also explains attachment and detachment. When you remain attached to your thought-form, it does not have the space to move freely, hence you are jeopardizing its ability to fall into place on its own. When you stop holding on to it but relax and let go, you detach from it and allow room for it to move into actualization. Holding on is resistance. Letting go is allowing. You can tell by the way you feel when you move from a place of tension to a place of relaxation. When you set an intention, you set a tension between two points of where you are and where you want to be, which creates a motor for the universe to move things. When you let go of the intention, you release the tension and allow the two points to become as one. This is the natural cycle between intention (tension) and detachment (relaxation). Any area of reality is held in place by the focusing of consciousness. When you let go of your focus temporarily in that area, you allow that area of reality to return to its state of fluidity and malleability which enables elements in it to rearrange themselves freely. So live freely, and give everything you create the freedom to fall into place.“ - Enoch Mind Reality |
